Borealis takes steps to secure supply chains for healthcare and food packaging sectors

We at Borealis are committed to doing our part to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. In order to protect the health and safety of our employees, contractors, and business partners, we are diligently monitoring global developments and applying recommendations issued by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

We are working closely with our customers to manage supply chain risks. The products that we provide are critical to the supply chain of millions of people around the world. As a global company with a strong local presence, we have prioritized a series of mitigating actions to reduce the risk of potential supply chain disruptions.

Our team is constantly monitoring, evaluating, and anticipating risks in order to act quickly to ensure robust supply. Continuous alignment with our purchasing groups and service providers allows us to reallocate on a daily basis. Our production schedules are adjusted as necessary to support our customers to reliably run their operations.

We hereby thank our dedicated teams who secure the supply of critical products such as healthcare and diagnostic equipment, hygiene products, personal protective equipment (PPE), and also food packaging.

In a recent statement, EUROPEN, the European Organisation for Packaging and the Environment, called on the EU Commission to recognise as “essential” packaging materials and also the raw materials necessary for the production of such goods. This will enable the intra-EU transportation of packaging materials by way of so-called “green” or priority lanes, thus enabling a more secure supply for retail and e-commerce.
